That was what I had as a kid back in the mid 40s and thru out the 50s. That was a dandy bike when it was new....I put many a mile on it....wish I had it now.

Good for you. Mine was a single speed. Fleet Wings are scarce as hens teeth, because no body on the other forums like Vintage Bicycle discussion seems to know anything about them. They were made for and sold by Sears-Roebuck.

I've hunted your site, but had no luck locating anything on Fleet Wings.
I've seen a few... I think I must have worked on them because I can't remember where else I would have seen them?

Hello:
New to this forum, glad that I found it, thanks. I still have my Fleet Wing, purched from Sears, in 1955. Delivered many newspapers from that bike, still runs fine.

I think I have one...But it could be from the company that started in the 70s under the same name.

The photo in the top right corner of the collage on that page looks just like my 70's fleetwing.

Newer than what you guys seem to be talking about. I was told it was an eatons bike.
It was hung in a garage in almost new condition. Rims were warped a bit and braked still need tweaking. I switched the bars over and tuned up the gears for my friends sister.

This is mine. I had a hard time finding information about the brand, but according to Wikipedia:
The original Fleetwing Bicycle company was based in Buffalo, New York circa 1890-1930.
[...]
Another Fleetwing bicycle company emerged in Boston circa 1978, reportedly a house brand of the Jordan Marsh department stores. Several of these Fleetwing frames are made from Chromoly Steel. One of the 1977/1978 models included the "Monterey", a three speed cruiser.
Mine says "chromoly brazed steel [...] made in canada" on the frame. It weighs like 100 pounds or something

I actually have a pair of old Fleetwing bikes. I don't know too much about them yet, but I believe they're ~38-41 vintage. I'll have to do my homework on them. Came out of an attic after 30+ years. Very solid and heavy bikes.

Cool bikes! My wife and I used to have a little Fleet Wing travel trailer from the 60's. Wonder if there was any connection.

I can only imagine the rough roads that the double-top-tube bike was designed for.
We surely ride in easier times.
