gah wtf is that last thing
i'd never seen a belt on a bike that didn't suck, thought they just used em on lame comfort bikes with internal geared hub. Prolly makes a good SS.
belts have a bad name to me cause when i see them i think of the comercials ect that are on once in a blue moon where they are like check out this uber lame bike that sux, its so awesome, perfect for riders of all skill levels! u'll never want anything else. and i'm like go die

"Luca Bike uses state-of-the-art Poly Chain® belts that are clean, light and efficient. If a belt gets dirty just hose it off."
from lucabike.com
"Up front we took a Manitou downhill/freeride fork and fine tuned it to meet Luca Bike's standards. The result - a new level of comfort and control. "

Hmmmm...I get the idea behind belts replacing a chain in a typical bike setup, and this thing is advertised as a comfort bike. But how is this bike with 4 belts -- one on each pedal, one from BB to the gear under the seat, one down to the wheel -- supposed to somehow be better than a single chain/belt?
And I gotta wonder how long it would take to get used to the elliptical pedaling motion (Luca Motion(TM))? It also looks like that motion is obtained by having the pedals revolve at the end of the crank arms -- energy lost?
That seat looks like you would slide off the front and limit backward range of motion of the top of the leg.
I was going to ask why three cables to the rear wheel, but I now see that Rohloff hubs use two cables for shifting.
"...slows bumps down..." I hate fast bumps.
and that website suxors, bad.
I like the orange SS. With the chain and the derailleur gone, that may have offset the Rolhoff IGH weight penalty?
At first I thought that stones or mud might flick-off the belt, but then again chains drop-off every now and then as well.
.
belts might provide a smoother ride...
and that website suxors, bad.
Apperantly you did'nt read all the testomonials -
I was able to do some explosive accelerations on the short roll in distances before my jumps and the soundlessness of the system makes even a landing appear good that's not so perfect. Those clanking landings are an issue that really annoys me with regular chain drives.
I hate annoying, noisey, landings.
