Might make all the carbon or titanium people re-think that lightness isn't all it's cracked up to be. I can't afford gold, so I guess I'd better pour some ready-mix down the seat tube on mine.

Nonsense! White has demonstrated its superiority far too long, and it will remain the best choice of color, er, colour, for a bike until N + 1 rears it's head and I buy another bike of a different hue. :roflmao2:

White is the only way to go. I'm so sure of this that I just bought a new white frame this morning. For those of you who are into frames, Price Point has a sale on the Sette Ximo aluminimu frame for $79. It only comes in white though so they won't last long.

You want a fast bike- then this is it. On the flat the fastest we have done was 45mph but not for long. But for sheer speed- point it downhill. 53.8 mph offroad but admittedly on a smoothish trail. Just don't expect it to be the front runner uphills.

And I ain't saying what colour it is. But the decals are Gold.

The obvious answer is that it depends on the direction you are headed relative to the sun.

White reflects light all across the spectrum. Since every force produces an equal opposite force, the light bouncing off of a white bike will give it a slight propelling factor. Whether that makes it faster or slower depends on whether you are faceing into or away from the sun.

Black, on the other hand, absorbs all light rays and so has no such propelling (or retarding) factor.

To maximize your speed if you have a white bike you should ride westward in the morning and turn around at noon to ride home. If you have a black bike you should ride eastward until noon.

EVERYBODY knows that green bikes are fastest. And if they're not the fastest then they are the best ride. I've had this baby up to 48 mph on a local hill, with fenders and 28mm tires and pump and three bottles, before I lost my nerve.
