I could not see what I found to be a suitable category for this question.
I was just in my first bicycling accident two weeks ago when a driver coming from the opposite direction made a left turn in front of me and didn't see me, causing me to crash into her minivan, broadsided, and at a high speed. I broke my left clavicle in two places because of the crash.
I'm not so concerned in the details of the accident, at least for the purposes of Bikeforums readers, but my question is about rehabbing my left shoulder and arm.
I'm now at a point that I can move may left arm and spend most of the day without my sling. My doctor has recommended not riding again for 8 weeks from the date of the accident. In the meantime, a few questions I hope some readers may answer for me or provide experiences. One, does anyone know of issues in just spinning if I wait until, say week 4, before spinning at least on my trainer? Two, are there any exercises anyone may recommend I can work on to help my shoulder and strengthen it while I am waiting for the blessed day when I can take my baby back out on the road?
As a side note, I did take my bike to my LBS for a full crash check and they advised that everything appears to be in perfect condition. I just had to pick out a new, replacement handlebar because mine was bent beyond repair. Also got new handlebar tape to go with it.
Thanks for any advice anyone may give.
