General Cycling Discussion - Need a new way to carry clothes.

Hello all,

I recently received a promotion for the company I work for. What it means to me is a new place of work not too far from where I am now and a new look. Before I was not too concerned transporting my clothes except now I'll be wearing a suit and tie everyday and need a neat and organized way to transport my duds. I figure I can leave the shoes there which is not a huge deal as I'll have a place to keep them, however I would like to be able to transport a suit without getting everything all wrinkled. Does anyone know of a suit bag that is specifically designed for cycling? I would appreciate more of a backpack style as I do not use panniers on my road bike. The enviroment from what I can tell there is that they are pro cycling as they have a secure area to lock up your bike and showers on site. Which has got me totally stoked. I'd just like to be able to continue to commute to work.

A big messenger bag should work ok, I would think. I found if I fold stuff fairly neatly and put it in a plastic bag inside my bag (to hold it folded when its sliding around) stuff still looks good at the end of my 7mi commute, which is about 25-35 minutes typically.

Stiffee Shane, is there anyway you keep clothes in your office or shower room? I'm in a suit and tie 4 days a week and what I'll do is bring 4 sets of shirts, sox, and underwear to the showerroom on Sunday night. I rotate a couple pairs of pants and suitcoats/blazers. Dress shoes under the desk.

On Fridays, which are usually casual dress, I just ride to work in chinos and a polo shirt.

I have my panniers full already..Like to have my stuff waiting for me at work.

There are some good travel suits which don't crease up.

Some suits have Lycra in them to keep them from wrinkling. I have had good luck putting a suit with lycra in it in a messenger bag folded carefully. It's also kind of cool realizing I am wearing a suit that has some of the same materials in it as my biking clothes, in formal situations.
