I picked up a frame with some random parts on it that I am rebuilding with parts I have and I am wondering if it would be possible to mix and match a few campy and shimano components and still get decent shifting?
The frame came with a Shimano 6 speed RD hooked up to a campy 6 speed brifter and 6 speed freewheel (all Triomphe). I have no idea if this worked or not, it's just what was on there. Is it possible that I will be able to get it to work if I build it back up like that?
Also, these is a campy double setup in front (also Triomphe) but the brifter is busted so I need to replace the shifter with something. I have a Shimano 105 double brifter - will I be able to get it to work with the campy cranks and FD?
I know none of this is supposed to be compatible and I've never worked with campy stuff before but my experience with everything else is the less gears there are the more likely things are to work when you mix and match - will this same concept apply to campy/shimano 6 speed bits?
