Northern California - Solvang Double-Ride Report

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Completed my first double this weekend, finished in 12hrs 55 minutes. Very pleased with the time, glad I went over Drum Canyon in daylight, that road surface is really bad.
Thoroughly enjoyed it, maybe next year we should have a bike forum group ride it.

Fantastic Job!!! I told you you could do it. That shiny new bike must have helped too ;-)

Good for you ... quite an accomplishment to complete a double, and then to complete it before it got dark. Yeah, Drum Canyon is not the best paved street at all. Hopefully you were able to avoid all the potholes ... kinda hard to avoid them when it's dark. I am still amazed that I happen to avoid them when I rode it a couple of years ago in pitch black darkness. I did have the benefit of really bright HID's, so maybe that did it?

ya... Drum Canyon pretty bumpy, but really short in descent time
the wind was perfect
and a good day
perfect weather.
i broke a spoke just before the HWY 101 overpass in SLO
had to ride to Guadalupe with a rear wheel rubbing the stays
maybe i should have turned around to the lunch break and worked on it there
congrats on your 1st double!
peace...d
Great job! Congratulations on your first double. Drum can be a problem, but it's a short problem. The weather was perfect, it was a great day for riding.

Congrats! It's a big deal!
Davis: We should start a thread when it gets close.
I can tell you I'll be rolling out about 4am. You'll see me. I'm the guy in the helmet, with a headlight and water bottles.
