I have the new design of the Yakima Front Wheel Holder. I used it today for the first time since I got it. The problem is that the fork rotates backwards while driving. It only stops when the tire makes contact with the roof of the vehicle. I can not seem to get the nuts tight enough. Has anyone else had this problem? If so how did you solve it? Thanks.

I wrapped a few passes of black electrical tape over the bar and reattached the wheelholder (this works equally well for the older bike fork mounts). When you torque it up, the soft plastic of the tape gives a bit and provides some resistance to the twisting. Also, make sure they are perpendicular to the ground, so gravity isn't helping them sag .

I suppose black friction tape (the kind you wrap hockey stick blades with) might work even better, but I've never tried it.

Sometimes people don't tighten the BAR down enough and the actual bar is twisting not the wheelholder.
Check to make sure the bar is tight too.

I had some of the older wheel forks and ended up drilling a hole all the way through the bar and one of the plastic mounts for the wheel fork. Ran an eye screw through it with a wing nut on the other side and it didn't move anymore.

This was when I mounted a wheel fork outside of the rack towers. I wouldn't have done it to the crossbar anywhere between the towers.

BOW BEFORE THE MIGHTY POWER OF DUCT TAPE!!!

I had the same problem, but I found that a strip of duct tape fixed that problem lickety-split.
