Last night I completed my 40th ride this year and hit the 500 mile mark. I have never ridden that much in my life. I started out in the winter doing 6 - 8 mile rides in the cold, another first, but with proper cycling clothing I was warm and it was fantastic doing something I thought was crazy before. I had joined the elite winter biker ranks. I've worked up to 16 - 24 mile rides now, getting stronger legs and switching from the MTB to RB as the weather warmed up and salty roads dissapeared. Of the 500, 200 were this month. This is my second year back into cycling and the first that I have kept a log of my miles.
My goals are to get fit / loose weight and bike 3,000 miles this year. I know 3,000 is a stretch, but it gives me something to stride for. If I only get to 2,000 or 2,500 I won't be disappointed much.
It feels great doing something you never thought you could. Get out and ride.
