Hi Everyone,
My wife and I are planning a trip to the North Vancouver area. We'll probably be staying at a Bed & Breakfast. We wish to go kayaking and see the Capilano suspension bridge. We are wondering if this area is "tourable" by bike because we would like to avoid getting a rental car. Is it possible to rent bikes in North Vancouver? How is public transportation in this region? Our planned trip is end of June.

Best Wishes,
Darren

Public transportation is great in North Vancouver. You will also be able to rent bikes, but traffic and the hills may make this a less desirable option. Either way you will be able to avoid renting a car.

Capilano road can get pretty steep in some parts, but if you are in decent shape it is totally do able. I myself live in Vancouver, don't know North Vancouver bicycle stores that well unfortunately. However there is a local chain called Different Bikes, if their North Vancouver location is anything like their Vancouver location then you should be golden. I have always had great customer service from them.

They do rentals, however their North Van location specialises in mountain and free ride bikes which might limit what you can rent. However I am sure, if you give them some advance notice by calling ahead and telling them what you need or type of riding you will be doing, they will be able to hook you up with something.

Public transit in metro Vancouver is pretty good from my experience.

If you are interested in Kayaking, check out Deep Cove canoe and kayak.

AS far as public transit gos you can buy a "Day Pass" that you can use for unlimitted travel especially if you buy a three zone one.I think though if you are just staying in N,Van you only need a single zone. You can find more info at http://www.translink.bc.ca/
