Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

anyone know which is the highest/lowest quality rims?
i'm trying to compare component specs (especially wheels) on recumbents before buying anything.
two of the bikes i'm looking at come with Alex DA16 rims, one with Alex Y2000, and the last just says Jet Set rims.
thanks.

The only one I have experience with is the DA 16. They are a midrange rim; OK, but not great.

Here is the Alex web site; http://www.alexrims.com/ That should sort out the food chain of their various rims.
The V-Rex comes with Jet Set Ch-E220 V-section rims on Novatec disc hubs. (no easy way to put disc brakes on a V-Rex). Jet Set's site lists the rims as MTB. The wheels on my Rex have 1100 miles and are still true and roll smooth. I've read that they are not particularly light. The Novatec site consists of lots of big PDFs to download, one of which is the 2009 hub catalog. http://www.novatec.com.tw/novatec/english/tec_d_c_data.php
The Alex DA16 is standard on a variety of recumbents. I put 4000+ miles on a set of new wheels with DA16 rims (406) on a RANS Tailwind with no issues. Not too light, not too heavy.
