So I just finished building a conversion up two weeks ago and I got a really good tire from a friend so I was putting it on and he noticed that one of the nuts, the inside one, near the cone, had a large chip in it that was a little rusy; I took it off and it literally fell into two pieces. I replaced it but as I was tightening the wheel, he said I might be tightening too much; the outside nuts are starting to pancake slightly at the edges. Since it has horizontal dropouts I feel better crankin the tightness really high. On my track bike I don't go crazy. Am I going to keep cracking nuts (lol) or is it a flaw in their quality or something (the wheels are sorta newish and I usually keep my bike inside).
Thanks
