I have a pretty crappy Heart Rate Monitor and Bike Computer. I wanted to combine the two into one and was looking at the Polar 200 CS. I've looked at the polar web site but it isn't clear....although it is a cyclocomputer, can you use it as a wrist HRM for cross training? Also someone told me that the batteries cannot be user replaced and had to be sent away - Is that true?

pretty sure you can't use it unless it's on the bike, although maybe you could just run with your cycling jersey and put it in a back pocket and that would solve the problem.

I think the CS300 is the only Polar one designed to be used on and off the bike, with bike readings. It's possible to get bike mounts for some of their others, but they're just HRMs.

The Polar strap does need to be sent away to replace the battery, but on the other hand, they're usable in the pool, and I think that's one of the reasons.

Suunto and VDO both have models that can be used on and off the bike, but they're much more expensive than the Polar.
