I'm looking at a used Fisher Kaitai. It is about 5 years old and in good shape. Are the LX components about the same as current LX? or have Mountain bike components really advanced much over the last 5 years? Thanks.

I found a few reviews from 99. Sounds like the drive train is a mix of LX and alivio. does anyone know which component from what group is on the bike. Just wondering if I should condsider this bike Thanks.

If its a mix the shifters, front derailleur, crankset and brakes will all be cheaper stuff... usually the rear derailleur is the only or one of the only LX parts on a bike like that. So expect the FD, shifters, cranks maybe brakes to be Alivio. Whether you should consider it or not depends on the price and condition.

$150 tops! if in GREAT shape!

a 5 year old bike is ANCIENT in mountain biking terms. Fork is old technology. Parts are probably worn out, and the frame is INSTANTLY suspect of damage.

Now, if it was purchased and put in the garage to die a slow lonesome bicycle death, then it might be worth considerably more.

Well somebody used the buy it now button and paid $325 for the bike. That is more than I would have paid. I would rather pay $470 for a new Marlin than go that high. Thanks again.
