Looking for a road bike to upgrade from my bridgestone 500 from the 80's.

Strongly considering the schwinn fastback, looks like a goob buy. Has their recent buyout by pacific cycles effected their quality much?

What else might you recommend?

Thanks
Marc

There's numerous bikes in the $800 range. I'm currently looking at this same category. A few I'm looking at are the Felt 80, Trek 1200, Fuji Newest, and Specialized Allez Sport Triple.

The one thing I really want is good fit. I'm not overly concerned about components as I'm mostly a recreational rider and don't plan on racing or upgrading.

The Fastback seems to have very similar specs to the bikes I mentioned. I would suggest test riding this and maybe a couple others before deciding.

I ride the Fastback ltd all dura ace. it's my 1st rode bike and reason i got it was the price i did some work the owner of a bike shop.what i don't like about it is on mountain decents 40-50mph the rear feels squishy.other then that the bike is fast and climbs very good and it fits me good also. schwinn quality is not what it use to be, you should look at differant brands, im gonna get a new frame in the near future.
