HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!

Well the ride will most likely get cancelled tonight because of rain. That and I have to watch my son tonight so no ride for me.

After talking this weekend we hope to make the 4/5 side of the ride an opportunity to ride together instead of the leg ripping Cat 1/2 race it currently is now....

The rain is a welcome for me, i need to give the legs a day off i think. As far as the leg ripping cat 1/2 race it currently is now. That's fine with me, i know my way around there for the most part...but it would be nice not to get dropped every time.

Do keep me up to date about what time you guys may roll out next week. It's 35 mile drive for me, if i leave at 4 that equates to about an hour and 15 (on the conservative side) due to traffic...

FWIW, there's a park on the route that is both north and west of where the ride originates. When the ride is in "full bloom" there are several people who park there and catch the train as it comes by. Hopping on there might buy you a half an hour or so (10-15 minutes of driving, plus the later arrival). If you need directions, let me know.

Also, even though I live in Geneva, my office is in Algonquin but I do the majority of my work in Woodstock. If you're ever interested in riding a little closer to (your) home, let me know.

For sure. I'm currently living in Wonder Lake (likely moving to Woodstock in June-ish) and work in McHenry...i usually get on the bike at 5:30. Not sure when you get done with work but i could always skip out an hour early here and there.

So, then, you must be planning to peak for the Wondertucky crit? Not sure where they're going to run that thing, but they could make that race brutal. We shall see.

I don't really have a set quitting time. I leave when I can't take any more drama. I try to make an effort to get out early enough on Tuesdays to hit the Team Ride, but a 5:00 start there is just not going to happen... that's crazy talk!

The thought has crossed my mind--i'd like to redeem last years piss poor winfield crit performance though. I've been checking constantly for a route for the ride, you're right...there isn't a whole lot of room for a crit in WL without putting some pretty stiff little hills in it. That said, they could easily throw it into one of the flat & boring subdivisions as well...

Well like i said, it's pretty flexible in my job. They won't let me work over 40 hours (salaried--pinch me) and just this week i've got 2 hours of overtime logged that i need to "take care of".

I think that Crit is being put on by RDS. If that's the case you can expect no pre-announced course, no web page, and no internet based pre-registration (mail only). But it will be well organized and go smoothly. Even so, I can't make it.

I'm probably out for riding for the rest of this week (trainer tonight, easy ride Thurs, headed to Hillsboro Friday), but next week I'll try to make something happen.

And, uh, be careful if you do drive all the way down for that Bicycle Heaven ride tonight. Last week we gathered only for the "fast" guys to wuss out on us because of the freezing rain. So, we rode around for 1.5 hours, but it wasn't anything special.

Bump - Group ride is going off tonight. This is earmarked as a 4/5 development ride which means we will separate from the main group while out on the route and regroup so we can ride together. If you're thinking of riding with us might I suggest you give this one a try.

Remember that even though it's a "development" ride it's not a "no drop" or 14 mph love fest either.

We're meeting at 5:00 with an intended 5:15 rollout from the corner of 25 and 38 in Geneva. Park here:

At roughly 22 miles a few of us latched onto another--faster much larger--group to the end. I know that a few of the other guys hung back though.

AVG speed before that larger group was like 17.2...i think you could hang.

Thanks. I know that route from a similar route started from the old shop.

Psimet2001

Same route as before we just start from Geneva. It varies in length depending on which route options you take. Looks like it will be a killer turnout tomorrow.

Last Thursday there was a group of 10 or so that headed out from the shop. A large groups waits for us at the golf course on route. Up to that point our ride is kind of considered neutral. I tried to make it strictly a 4/5 route from the point where the other group latches on (that group was pretty large - maybe 20-30 other riders at least). Once they latch on it's basically race conditions in the main group.

We took the short cuts and tried to keep it easy so we could ride as a group a bit more. Real easy pace. Then we hit a section were we were joined back up with the main group. We just went with the flow. Latched on and rotated through. Much faster.

After most of the guys disconnected again I dropped back to ride with them to the end.

It's a great ride. Can you hang? No. Not many can, but that's why we ride in a separate group on Thursdays. Tuesdays are for trying to hang on like mad. Can you hang with us? Definitely.

I have confirmation from a lot of guys that will be there this week. It should be epic.

Be at the shop by 5:00. We roll around 5:15-ish. We get back kind of near dusk. It was still light last week and we left late so it should be light this week. Meet at the new shop. It is at the corner of 25 and 38. It is in the same building as Geneva Cycles - across the street from Mill Race Cyclery.

Park in the city parking lot on the South East corner of that intersection. You'll see all of us in that parking lot at that point anyway.

Give me a call if you need to. PM me for my number if you don't already have it.

Like I said....fair warning....this ride can be psycho fast. It is NOT a no drop ride. Bring a map. grab a wheel....and hold on for dear life.

Seriously..i'm wondering if i need to eat more

I weigh 172-174
I had for breakfast 2 eggs and toast and some grape juice

I drank 3 bottles of water throughout the day...

For lunch i had the a "foot long" turkey samich, some sunchips a diet pop, and a cookie (board meeting lunch, cute right). An hour before the ride i had a bannana. During the ride i had another, a bottle of water, and a Gateraid.

What happened to me today didn't feel like just being tired, i started getting dizy, seeing stars, slight headache...and just nothing in the tank.

I'll take Bull Valley over that stupid hill on Town Hall. I HATE that thing. Not sure why. Probably because you've got to get up and come over it right with the group (if they're hauling) because once things get going down Campton Hills it's not possible to catch up. If you get dropped there, you're done.

Psimet2001

Yeah I think it's because of where it falls in the ride, the massive downhill after it, there is always an attack, it has the steeper grade then a false flat and then kicks up again making it hard to find a good tempo, etc...
