Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Before knowing about the connection to Astana, I stopped by Barlata Tapas Bar (http://www.barlata.com/index.html), the new tapas bar in my neighborhood for dinner last week. They've only been open for two weeks. I met the owner, who also owns B44 in SF, one of my favorite places for lunch in the city. The food was great and once they get the service mechanics buttoned down, it should be a great local option for delicious and interesting Spanish tapas.

Two days later, I saw a random article in Bicycling magazine about paella- anyone else see it? Turns out that article was about the owner of B44 and it also mentioned the new place he was opening with "Chechu" Ribiera, called BARLATA! What a small world, eh? Apparently the other owner, Daniel Olivella, is also a big recreational cyclist.

So come on over to Oakland and check out our new local tapas joint and perhaps you'll run into a cycling celebrity!

Not owned by a cyclist, but I like this tapas bar in SF.

I think we have a new ride coming up ... Tour de Tapas, and Roja is leading it .... :D

Not a bad idea! We could eat some pork "lomas" (cantadas) and burn some calories wrassling a Grizzly (Peak) Bear. Instead of the Slowpoke ride, it could be the SlowPork ride! Mmmm... Anyone else like chorizo? And the Sauteed Atlantic cod cheeks garlic / parsley / chili flakes / fino sherry sounds good. Plus the Lata de pulpo 2 hours cooked octopus, fingerling potatoes / adobo oil is a sure winner. And I definitely want to try the rice with RABBIT (makes you really fast!).

I think I will need to make a recon trip tonight to make sure it is up to the BF standards.

Who is in???

Tapas - great idea.

Do you think they'll let in sweaty smelly individuals, who are old enough to know better in skin tight lycra, with clippety clop heels?

Dude, I'll plan the ride, but you need to find your own date!
