hi all,

just like to show you my new folder addition. it is an A-Bike ( i guess it is a wannabe). i friend of mine was on a business trip to asia and he willingly carried it home for me. he said he paid a total $52 for the bike. he gave it to me and haven't paid him back yet (i intend to). for this price this could be my ticket to bus- bart train - bus commute. i hope to try how it works this weekend though. pls don't flame me for getting a wannabe. it's just that the cost is so hard to resist. i think i am getting this 'not enough folders in my garage sickness'.

on a side note i missed an opportunity to buy a used Dahon Vittese D5 last weekend for a messly price of $175. seller was so nice that he accomodated the first person he talked to inspite of waiting for 2 days for the buyer to show up. hmm maybe someone from this forum got that bike. it was on sf craiglist.......i am still looking for a nice used folder...........

thanks,
vic

yes. it is an 8" wheel. in fact i also checked the frame just to make sure and it is all aluminum (high grade aluminum - that's what they said). and you're definitely right about the price - how can i resist that. i saw at amazon that they are selling this one for $139.00 (plus shipping and tax). i let you know how the ride is. i actually can't wait to try it. my friend in asia mentioned to me that it may take me awhile to get used to it due to its frame geometry.

vic

Well, how the ride? I was wondering what the weight limit on the Wannabe is? :) I think I spotted a similar one on ebay and wanted to see if you was pleased the the performance of your bike.

Big e,

honestly - ride is wobbly and weird and the frustrating part is the plastic that holds the front wheel cracked already. i don't know if it was due to shipment or just plain quality issue. not worth the $52 i paid for. rode it for only about 1 mile and now it's sitting in my garage. don't waste your money on this A-bike clone. a strida clone might be better as i heard people on this forum have good experience with it. oh well one of those things....so to sum it up:

1) ride is not normal
2) ride is wobbly
3) total waste of money on my part (maybe because i got the raw deal and maybe out of the 1000 units they built there will be 1 or 2 crappy one and i got the crappy one).

thanks,
vic
