Guy alternate to 4/4 Cinderella classic?

MyLilPony is off to the Cinderella classic on 4/4. Since the restraining order I'm not allowed to do that ride, even in costume.

So I'm looking for a Bay Area ride with my favorite bunch of lycra folks.

Anyone going out, or am I on my own?

There is supposed to traditionally be an informal "Cinderfella" ride that the guys do, reverse of the Cinderella.

This is a very bad idea. They get enough grief and difficulty putting on the ride and fielding 2500 entrants, without having to put up with the extra congestion and ill will reverse riders would bring.

They ask, very politely, that we not do that. So I won't. Probably safer not to, anyway.

I don't think we'll be interfering with the Cinderella...but

Or...Pleasant hill Bart Briones Park (three bears), Grizzly and around the horn to Pleasant hill.

FWIW, I drove to the Pleasant Hill BART station last week, and the parking lot was closed.

Curtis, Pete, I know Valley Spokesmen is still looking for volunteers for the event! Maybe you could look into that option? Still time for a short ride when you're done servicing the ladies.

You do know it's wrong to give Pete lines like that to work with, don't you?

I've heard stories about that ride, and I think it's important to be as far away from it as possible.
Last year a 4000-pound, 10-MPH paceline of bunny-hat wearing hybrid riders crashed into a kindergarten bus and caused a huge fireball that was seen as far away as Gilroy. Oh, the humanity....

The unofficial name for that is "The Dirty Old Man Ride". You probably know some of the regular participants.

Whoops. Pete can't make it, so I'm just going to ride on my own. No meet up...

I looked for you on North Gate road. I parked at Wiget and Walnut, about a mile or two from the Ranger Station and started my ride around 9:30. No Curtis, no Pete, no re-Pete (he could have passed me on the way up and then down while I was still climbing. Next time, I hope!
Anyway it was a beautiful day on the mountain, a bit frisky on the way down but perfect for climbing. I usually ride South Gate and hadn't climbed NG in almost a year. It is a really beautiful climb, a lot of green and flowers this time of the year, less wind than on SG. Some sections are a bit steeper but they make for nice changes of pace. Going down is more technical, some curves are very sharp. The very tricky part of SG is the bottom section that is infested with ground squirrels. I hit one last year and was very careful today, I saw dozens crossing the road.
