I just bought a folding bike to ride to the Long Island Railroad and from Penn Station to my office uptown. Does anyone use baby wipes or something else to clean up after riding to work. Any ideas or tips would be greatly appreciated.

Baby wipes: yes! Get the unscented kind (no alcohol). I've got a little fan at my desk, and before I change I cool down for 10 minutes or so. At work I keep a stick of deodorant, shoes, a belt, shirts and pants that I carry back and forth when they need cleaning (my work is casual dress). On really hot days I'll run cold water over the head in the bathroom - this really helps cool me down.

What kind of folder did you get? Send a pic please!

The most important thing is to cool down before you clean up. Otherwise you'll just keep sweating as you're cleaning up and probably afterwards too.
You can also get a big box of wet ones from costco or something, it'll last you a few months. Deodorant's good but if you're already wearing it, wearing more just makes things gunky, try one of those new body sprays.

I bring in a washcloth and towel then after cooling down go to the restroom and soap up the washcloth in the sink, then go into the handicap stall and wash off.

I find this a little less trouble and more ecological than disposable wipes.

Wet naps. And after cleaning up, I retire to the office for another nap.

Baby wipes... but for the men, Old Spice makes some wet wipes too if you insist on having a cologne during the day.

On the hot days around here I just use the deodorant. There's not much point with anything else, because one can expect to sweat profusely in an air-conditioned office nine months of the year -- such is the humidity level. I often find myself having to sneak off at lunch time and spray on some more of the stuff, too.

LOL! I think my workmates would rather have me smell like Double Century than Old Spice... :D

A washcloth with cold water with a "dash" of rubbing alcohol mixed in. Cools me down and quickly brings sweating to a stop.

You can get alot of mileage out of the "di$po$able" wipes. Some Mom showed me how to carry 4 or 5 in a zip lock (instead of the whole tub).

Now after using them, I wash mine out (if it's not gross). Once it dries you can reuse it 4-5 times. Once washed, they get very soft and very nice for nose wipes. They make durable rags for checking oil or cleaning the chain.

Supopsedly if you run cold water over the temple of your wrists, (where the vein are) it cools you down, i find it helps.

A sheet of bounty paper towel is also reusable. Yes I admit, I'm that cheap that sometimes just for wiping my bike, I'll squeeze out the water and let the paper towel dry to use the next day.

How do you carry the rubbing alcohol along with you?

Naaah, you're not cheap, you're frugal!

But please don't tell me you re-use your dental floss. . .!

I keep it at work with my clean clothes. I drive in at least once per week and bring in supplies and laundry then.
