I read a lot of threads here lately and this milk/sugar recipe came up several times. 5tbl sugar in 16oz milk. I tried it with 4tbl last nite after a practice 30mile TT. It was kind of gross. I was wondering about hot chocolate? Does heating up the milk break down the protiens that you need? Also I reciently bought a very expensive can of Endurox 4, havent tried it yet. I plan on saving that for long hard training rides and after racing. I noticed it has a huge dose of vitamine E in it. Is there something in the poor man's motif that can supply that? what is the science behind the vit E? thanks...

Please let us know how you feel about the Endurox 4 when you give it a try.
I use chocolate milk. Chocolate = sugar and tastes better. Vit E is an anti-oxidant and helps with muscle repair. Centrum sells Protegra (http://www.centrumvitamins.ca/multi/protegra.asp) for anti-oxidant usage. This was also recommended by my doc. Generic version available as well. Now I just use a multi-vitamin.
I use E4 too; but, I'm lucky enough to live close to a Performance Bike store and get it on sale w/o paying shipping charges.

I've been using it now for over a month and I believe it works quite well. Others have complained about the tase but it doesn't bother me. Last night I did a pretty hard set of intervals and as a test I did not take Endurox and today I feel a little muscle soarness. When using it in the past after races or hard training rides I was fully recovered the next day. I take it pretty much as soon as I get off the bike. I think I will get more when this batch runs out.
