I need to replace the original headset that came with my 1995 GT Ricochet. The headset is a Tioga "Alchemy."
I measured the distance between the inner walls of the frame's head-tube and the distance is very close to 1-11/32" or 1-3/8". The diameter of the outer wall of the upper head-tube race that would contact the inner wall of the head-tube is 1-5/16" or 1-11/32".
Apparently the standards for modern threadless headsets are 1" and 1 1/8". Where is that measurement coming from? The only measurement I found that is close to that measurement was the diameter of my steerer tube, but it was closer to 1 3/32".
Does the Tioga "Alchemy" have a modern replacement?
