Road Bike Racing - Brad McGee, GC Contender?

After another day of sicking with the leaders over some tough climbs, Brad McGee is looking pretty good in the Giro. Today he was on Cunego's wheel right through to the finish. Does anyone think he can make the transition from prologue specialist to GC contender? What's easier - being a climber and improving on the time trials, or being a time trialist and improving on the climbs?

I think that the TT to climber transition is easier, because a time trialist already has a big engine to work with.

Yes, he finished 11th overall, in Cunego's group, :49 back of the winner.

Also, a very exciting breakaway by 1st year pro Emanuele Selle to win. I was glued to my ticker!

I did the same. It's hard to catch OLN when you work in an office (for now) at the beach. Another week and it's full time lifeguard duty. Man I hate being stuck behind a desk.

Where in the thread title does it say Giro? "Brad McGee, GC Contender?" I don't see it.

My thought was that it would thread about Brad's potential as a GC rider, not specifically in the Giro though. And even if it was about his GC possibilities in the Giro, there's no reason to even mention who won todays stage. It's completely irrelevant.

Still, you have to admit that there was no reason to discuss today's winner. If someone really wanted to talk about today's stage and winner, perhaps they should have started a thread called "Giro Stage 10 *spoiler alert*"

There's going to be things happening in the Dolomites. I'm a bit too nervous to make any predictions, however, the GC ain't going to be the same at the end of them.

Well, maybe I'm guilty, maybe I'm not, but I've been posting comments on results in threads titled Giro Stage X so that people could see the thread was about the Giro stage and avoid it if they don't want to read about it until after the tv coverage. Do you need the word spoiler in the thread title to avoid it? Speak now or forever hold your peace.

If the thread is titled "Giro Stage X" it's fairly obvious that the winner is probably going to be revealed.

Since it wasn't obvious that this thread would turn into a discussion on the days stage, the word "spoiler" should have been in the title.

Apparently, he's been working on just that!

He must have done some serious work toward becoming a better climber this year. I read where he has changed his diet, but he also must be training in the high-mountains to have evolved into such an all-around talent this year. I guess we'll see if he can hang later in the Giro when the climbs get large, and the big boys come out to play for real. He is certainly on my short list of GC contenders @ this point, as he'll certainly take some time from the pure climbers in tomorrows 52km ITT:

The latest I've heard is that Brad is 62 seconds off the lead.

We get hardly anything done here, only about 15 seconds a day (on sports news) on the government funded multi-cultural station.
