Bike E question

ok i broke my rear sram derailuer on my bike E and my grip shifters are shot. So i need to change them is it wise to get new sram or can i switch them to shimano, or does it matter?

Hope this doesnt sound like a newbie which i aint but i have never had to work on my bent till now and i have had it since 2001.

If you have the three speed hub, it matters. The 3 speed hub will not work with anything but SRAM shifters. In SRAM shifters, I believe it requires a SRAM 3.0 shifter. Everything else can be swapped out though.

I have a SRAM 9.0 derailleur & shifter on my wife's BikeE which is awesome and trouble-free. :D
