Anybody doing Ride the Rockies this year? I got selected and it will be my first trip. I'm really looking forward to it. I would have gone on the BTAC ride as that route is more interesting but the timing for that week just didn't work out with my schedule.

You, me and 1998 others too! I am in Oregon and this is my very first RTR too. I am a bit concerned about adjusting to the high altitude. Most of my riding here in the valley is at 200-2,000 ft elevations. I plan to get to Colorado a week or so ahead to try to get acclimated.

If you haven't done so already, you can sign up at the RTR website for the 'My Ride' section where riders can interact, exchange info, post photos, maintain a blog etc. There seem to be quite a few riders from Denver and the surrounding areas.

Cheers.

As someone who rides in Western Oregon at elevations of 500 to 2,000ft at best, I plan to be in Colorado a week earlier to get acclimated to the higher altitude. I will be in Ft Collins/Boulder area Jun 6-10 and in Dillon/Frisco Jun 11-13 before heading to Glenwood Springs for the start of my first attempt at RtR.

I would appreciate any info on 'no drop/ regroup' rides that I might be able to join during these dates and locations. If other RtR riders would like to meet up for a training ride or two, that would be great as well.

Thanks.

Ride the path from Dillon/Frisco to Vail and back once or twice. That goes over 10,000 ft and should serve to acclimate.

Check the ride calendar on the following site.

Also, a group ride departs Scott Carpenter Park (30th and Arapahoe in Boulder) at 6pm on Tuesdays.

Boulder Bicycle Village (28th and Pearl St in Boulder) has a 9am Saturday morning ride.

Try climbing Loveland Pass from Frisco....if you can make that climb everything on RTR will be cake.
