Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - giro d' Italia

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I know it isn't fixed, but I have been watching the Giro every morning on OLN and it has been wonderful. If you can get a chance to tape or access it do so. Cycling at it's best, even if they use too many gears.

Can you watch it on line at all?
The only cycling I get on my TV is the landrider infomercial. :(

The only online that I'm aware of is Velo News which has live updates. But, I think that is just text. If you have a satellite dish you may be able to get Euro vision but I am not sure about that.
By far the best coverage is OLN, outdoor life network. They also cover a number of the Classic one day races in Europe and The tour of Georgia, which Lance just won. Of course, they cover the Tour De France too. For years we bugged our Cable provider here in Central Ohio to get OLN but they said there was not enough interest. Well It seems that along with bicycling they also cover "Bubba" sports such as Nascar racing and other such things and they got a lot of requests for from that element. I don't care about the other stuff but I am glad Bicycling is covered live with tape repeats for later in the day if you miss the first showing. Yea!

I don't have TIVO and have to rely on my addled brain to tape it.
I forgot to tape stage 9 where Fred Rodriguez beat Alessandro Petacchi to win the stage. I wish I'd seen that one!

I'm always looking for any type of cycling coverage on OLN betwix the fishing shows and the hunting shows and the PBR (no not that PBR, Pro Bull Riding) I've caught the Lance Chronicles...not too bad a show....don't cover much mountain biking though...stateside anyways....I know in Canada they had a bunch of shows...

Last week they covered the Sea Otter Classic mtb races. There was a japanese guy doing jumps on a 1949 Schwinn, bomber. Very funny.

We get like NO coverage of the Giro, yet get the TdF every day. Dumb TV stations. OLN doesn't exist down here, no no-go there.
FYI the guy dirt jumping the Schwinn is Sanjay. He's not Japanese, he's from San Diego LMAO. Also, did anyone see Nathan Rennies 75ft launch? Mad bästard had to get pulled along by motorbike at 98kph to make the gap. Mountainbiking or just BMX on a big bike? Debate is open. Fun to watch, but I'm glad it isn't me. Right Johnny W?
Oh crap, this is the fixie board, you won't know what the hell I'm talking about. :D

Even though I'm not into multi-geared bikes, I do love to watch those that really know how to work them. We just programmed the VCR to grab the stages every morning and watch them in the evening. We've also been able to catch most of the spring classics.....Just amazing.

Thanks for the correction. The announcer said that he was japanese, I think.
