A co-worker sometimes rides a restored Motobecane Grand Record. He had problems from time to time with his seatpost loosening so we did a comparison with the post from my Motobecane Grand Jubile. My 26.2 post is just slightly to big to fit & the 26.0 post he has been using is a bit loose. Anyone ever heard of a 26.1 seatpost on a French bicycle? My thought is possibly overtightening the clamp to hold an undersized post means he needs to get the post hole resized or reamed to 26.2 at our local shop. Don

for a cheap fix try some shim, you can get it in a variety of thicknesses. if you dont have access to shim, try cutting up a coke can and see if that works.

Check where the post inserts into the frame. There's a little gap in the frame tube there, so the post can slide in and then be tightened with the bolt. The sides of this gap should be parrallel (sp?). If the top end is closer together than the bottom, he's been riding with a too-small post. Stick a hefty screwdriver in the gap and wiggle it a bit to spread the gap. Then try the larger post.

Thanks all. He has been using a shim with a 26.0 & the expansion slot looks parallel. He's going to have the local bike shop take a look since they can adjust or repair just about anything. Don
