Be sure to post pics of the bike and some race pics when the season starts.

It's road season. Cyclocross doesn't start until autumn.

No racing. This will be my commute and go anywhere bike in any type of weather. A week ago we had snow and tomorrow it is supposed to be 63 and sunny.

Ah, so you're trying this thing they call a cyclocross bike.

I think you'll love it. For what you've described it's an excellent bike. You may find you collect a variety of tires for the different conditions, but other than that a cross bike with disc brakes is an excellent do anything bike.

Thank svtmike. I am a mountain biker first and roadie second. Just figured it was time for another bike and the La Cruz looks good on paper. The tires may be too aggressive for my commute to work so I'm already looking into something a little more road friendly.

Sorry to bring back an old thread, but I was wondering how the bike worked out for the op? If not the op, any thoughts on this bike? Are there any other choices for a disc only cross bike?

This is one of the more popular disc bikes around here...

nice bike, but I prefer steel or some other material other than aluminum. Thanks for the link though.

BikesDirect has the Fantom Cross Pro in Ti with disks for <$2,000. Or maybe this year's just has disk tabs, IDR, but the 2010 are supposed to be disk.

I don't see it on their website. I see the Fantom Cross Team which is Ti and has disc tabs. But the Fantom cross pro is still showing as aluminum and no disc tabs. Maybe their site will change for the newer models. Thanks.

OP here. The bike is great-- once I got it. They accidently ordered me a 53 instead of a 51 so it took some time to work that out.
I have been using it for just about anything. I did have my LBS put on a compact crankset which was a great idea for some logging road climbs.
