I was looking at this bike on ebay, it looks really good and I am thinking about upgrading from my rockhopper, is this good?

Yeah, for a used bike, there's not a thing I would change. Other than the description of the fork, that is NOT a triple clamp.

Seriously though, it's a well spec'd bike. If it doesn't go too high it'd be a good buy! I wouldn't go higher than $450 though. MSRP was $1200. From Charlotte, it was probably ridden a lot in Pisgah and Tsali. So, I'm sure it's Pre-Loved! The description says incredible shape, so I might consider $550, but no more than that!

Not bad the question is would it fit you? A bike to small or to big is just not fun to ride.

He's got 5 inches on you Sparky. That could mean a longer torso or longer legs. A better estimate (and I stress estimate) would be his pants inseam. For a better measurement he should go to a bike shop or at least follow the size instructions here :http://www.wrenchscience.com/WS1/default.asp

What are the advantages/disadvantages of a triple clamp?

I know most/all dual crown are triple clamp and i've seen a few single crowns with it too.

dc =

PRO stiffer and in theory stronger
CON ride higher, heavier and runs more sag which some people complain about

SC=
CON not always as stiff and not always as strong and usually a bit more flexy. With good forks only the big guys feel it but even the best sc forks flex under me.
PRO = Usually lighter (not always). You don't loose steering radius (dcs have limited turning ability)...

BTW triple clamp and dual crown are the same thing. Standard is to call is dual crown.
