It's kinda odd, lending out your favorite bike. Cringing, just waiting to see it participate on some major stackage.

Ramp not placed by me - I'd rather see it with built up rock, but then, I'm also not the trail builder there, so ought to just shut my big yapper. Fun little move. Short and sweet, with a narrow bit of trail above and a tight right hander onto the rock.

Yaaaaaawn. More east coast chunky rock goodness.

Dos tacos con pollo, dos tamele especiale, por favor. The tacos were awesome with the avocado chunked up on top, a little lime juice squirted on. Tasty!

Nice pics.
If you dont mind me asking, where are your trails? I seem to remember you or someone saying something about CT, but I also remember something about VA.

Yep, western CT, very close to NY. Those shots are from some spots on both sides of the border. I have a couple pretty decent riding spots close by, even able to be ridden to from home. Within 30-60 minutes drive time, I have a tone of good trail.

i envy the awesomeness displayed here, i wish trails around my stomping grounds were as gnarly as that.
speaking of ticks:
last year i woke up one day to a very most unpleasant surprise. i had a tick buried into the tip of my dude piston. yes it was excruciatingly painful, (namely the removal) i didnt seek professional medicine. now enough time has passed that i know i dont have lyme disease.
dont mess around when it comes to ticks. take it from me.

1. lotsa' deet.
2. when you stop around here, try to get on some rock/dry dirt - don't stand around in the underbrush.
3. clean up/shower ASAP post ride, even if only washing off your legs with baby wipes or solar shower at the car afterwards.
4. shaved legs - gives the little suckers less to grab on to in the first place. seriously.
at least, it's been working for me so far. haven't found one on me yet, when plenty of my riding buddies and up finding tons on themselves.

Coolio. What's the point of wearing deet, getting cancer from it, just for ticks, though? All you gotta do for ticks is check yourself afterward and maybe tuck your socks in!
I dunno what's worse though, to avoid ticks, using deet, or shaving your legs..lol

i actually prefer to use picaridin or citronella based stuff instead - seems to be as effective, but far less nasty in general, doesn't smell as bad, and doesn't degrade plastics.
fyi: there is no real data showing deet causes cancer (c'mon, that's what i spray myself with ddt for...) when used properly/as intended. it's been around for 60+ years and has been studied. a lot. independent studies, not just governmental stuff. you know, unless you're some conspiracy minded whacko who thinks all the peer reviewed scientific studies are just part of the overall evil plot against you or something.
the leg shaving? has other benefits. :thumb:

I'm not trying to antagonize you, but I find this fairly amusing seeing as you're name is legalize.
I like deet, its the only think that ever worked for me (for the record, I only use bug spray 4 or 5 times a year). I also drink diet soda. Guess I'm doomed.

Hey Lebowski, still might want to get yourself checked. Lime can lie dormant for a long time before causing problems.

its been over 10 minutes, and I cant load the pictures... argh...
Well, on the DEET thing, Back when I lived in Alaska, I used bugspray with HIGH levels of deet, in the 40%'s or higher (that really strong sportsman stuff or w/e it was called) because I spent about 80% of my time in or around the woods.
I'm still alive =)
and... normal?

this explains a lot.
fwiw: 40% isn't all that high - you can get much higher.

Yeah, I've got some of the stuff saying its 100% deet, but I'm not so sure.
Anything above 20% deet is not going to increase its short term effectiveness, it is just going to last longer. I believe 20% will last 4 hours +/-
I will +1 2 things mentioned above
1. deet based insect spray
2. shave your legs.
both help in the war against lymey.

yep. higher concentrations don't work better, it's that they just last longer. particularly important when you're likely to be sweating some of the stuff off anyhow.

I think that some bikers are alright with shaved legs:

The telltale sign would be a concentric red ring around the bite, but given the location, he's probably already got one of those.

get the cheapo generic mouthwash stuff and put it in a spray bottle. spray it on your shoes, socks, and exposed legs, and forget about the ticks. it makes you smell good, too! : ]
don't spray too much if you have white socks or shoes, though...
my dad used this for horses/ cattle for about 30 years now, and i've used it on myself for about 12 years, and it works great. i think it's the alcohol in it, but i'm not sure. i just know it works.

nope. that famous "telltale mark" is not always present, not by a long shot.
fyi: the CDC, NIH, and even the wiki page have some pretty good lyme info.
