Cool! The black one in the first video looks just like mine. The mango one in the second video looks a little yellower (is yellower a word?) than yours. The guy in the second video had a little trouble with a cable getting caught under the front fender when he unfolded it. Same thing happens to me - got to watch where the cables are.

P.S. It's a gorgeous spring day here in Alexandria - think I'll go for a long ride.

Yep, those are vids of the Citizen Tokyo. Citizen either sold the rights to a company over there to sell them or are rebranding it and selling it in Europe themselves. Either way, it's the same bike.

I actually saw a guy riding up Court St in Brooklyn Heights the other day on a mango Tokyo. I was just coming out of the bookstore and unlocking me bike. I wanted to catch up to him buy the time I unlocked my bike he was gone. :(

yes. exactly as my yellow. maybe a different yellow though. but surprisingly the price there is only $55 euro so about $75 in us dollars. i wonder why??? weather here is so nice too and just had my an hour leisurely bike. maybe i will try again later today. i still need to cut all the weeds by my side yard. they're almost 3 feet now........

I noticed on Citizen's official website that they are no longer selling the black colored Tokyo. Now you can only get white, silver or mango Tokyos. Maybe they are out of stock? Maybe the black color didn't sell as well as the others so they are discontinuing it? Maybe they are coming out with a new color to replace the black one?

Is this a re-badged Citizen Tokyo also ?

yes. definitely so. at that price (US$140+) it's way cheaper than what we're paying here. it cost about US$164 (plus tax and shipping) if you order online. so a bargain in UK.

Hi everyone, first want to thank everyone on their on going comments about their Tokyo. I am really leaning towards getting it and it would be my first folding bike!
But I'm wondering really how durable it is? How long have you guys had your Tokyo's for? Right now, Citizen says they are shipping the 2009 models, does anyone know if there is a difference between this one and previous ones?http://www.citizenbike.com/catalog.asp?product_category_id=1&product_id=10

you can;t go wrong with a citizen tokyo. it is one folders that i can say has stability in its frame and best bang for a buck. i can safely say that there are three people (including me) on this forum who love their tokyos so much. looking at their website i don't think there is much difference, or any difference between the 08 an 09 tokyo model. you will have fun with the tokyo or any folder that you picked. enjoy and weicome......

I'm one of those people that Vic mentioned that loves their Tokyo. I bought mine back in early January '09 to replace my other folder that was stolen the day after Xmas (!!!).

I have ridden my Tokyo everyday, ever since. Nearly 5 months now. It is a solid steel bike. It's reliable and hasn't let me down once. I've ridden through snow storms, sleet, freezing rain, high winds, freezing cold temperatures, you name it and it has performed like a champ. The Tokyo is built like a small tank.

Because I've ridden it everywhere, everyday for almost 5 months I've "outgrown" the gears so I'm upgrading the gearing to make it faster to keep up with me and all the new leg muscle I've put on from biking like a maniac everywhere, lol.

Let it be known that the Tokyo is NOT a fast bike. It has low gears + small wheels making it GREAT on hills but moderate to low speed on flat terrain. If you're not a speed demon, the Tokyo will do just fine but in my situation where I'm trying to commute to and from faster and have to keep up with NYC traffic, I just need gearing a little faster.

apology to OP if this is off topic but i think this is somehow related to the tokyo's gears. are you changing the gears and crankset of your tokyo ? will your LBS do it for you ? what upgrades you're going to do ? the reason i am asking is because i had a similar thread and were asking the experts if it's doable and majority said 'no' so i am just curious on how you're going to do your upgrade. maybe i can do it on my tokyo also. are you ever going to get a new folder ? you test drove one, right ? that's the reason why i decided to get a dahon boardwalk - to upgrade for speed. maybe dahon will be easier to upgrade ???
