hello i recently got my new cranks we the people royals and when i put them on i found that when i tighten the bolts more the cranks get more stiff... this bthers me a little bit because most peoples cranks are loose and spin freely i just want to know weather its the typre of bb i have.. or should i buy a fit bb for my fit frame would this solve the problem? cheers

did you put the correct spacer into the bottom bracket?

and if you have the right spacers, is everything in the right spot at least?

Profiles do the same thing and that's why you can't really crank on the bolt to tighten it. As long as it's snug it should be fine if you keep checking it.

It shouldn't happen if you used the internal spacer in between the bearings.

Guess it depends what he means by "stiff" though. So far I've been reading it if he tightens down the cranks it makes it hard to pedal, which would suggest a missing or too-small internal spacer.

He might just mean that the cranks don't swing around unless you actually tell them to, which you want if you're doing anything off the pedals (you don't want to land and find your cranks aren't where you left them...).

On one of my other bikes the cranks will happily backspin for like 30 seconds if you give them a good kick, which I thought was awesome until I gave them a kick around ready to take off from a set of lights and smacked a pedal into my shin. You don't want this. :)

cheers guys. ye having them stiff is great for my no footed cans etc but theres another guy down the park who has em spinning like hell and i just wonderd if there was somthink up with mine. cheers
