Clydesdales/Athenas (200+ lb / 91+ kg) - Today's Ride with A pic!

40 miles with nearly 5000 ft in the first 20 miles. Then a nice long DH. Rode alone so it was cool getting a chance to open up. Just rode thru, not much stopping for pics, just some hard riding. I did place an Armadillo on the rear of my bike. A 700 X 25. Man, that thing is heavy. Rear tire was nearly gone so I slapped it on to avoid any flats while alone in the mtns. No flats but the thing is heavy. I should have know, I did find it standing in the corner on it's own. Tuff tire but heavy and feels like a tank. Good training though!:D...I'll place a lighter tire just before ride day!:thumb:

You should really try the gp4000 I have over a 1000 miles on my set and the back tire has just the tiniest bit of a flat spot. Well worth the money.

I had the Arm sitting around so I use dit. I don't put expensive tires on my bike. My weight thrashes them. I usually use Gina's 'hand me downs' then patch when I flat till the flats are too frequent, then replace.:D

I place GP4000's on her bike. Last set lastd about 6000 for her. I just ride junk as it's training.

Then I place a nice tire on the bike for an event. I actually have decent tires on my Cannondale (organized ride bike). The Lemond is just for fartin' around and training.

I've used $40 on my bikes. After 2000, pretty much thrashed so I just use whatever to get in some miles.:p

But thanks, I might use a GP on the event.

Yup! When you get to the top of that turn, the view will look just about the same as this one. Kind of a mind game cause you never seem get to the top.:D

Got that right!:thumb:.....There is a landmark (a shack) at 8 miles up the climb. The average grade is 6%. Sometimes I will do the 8 mile climb then ride down and do it again when I don't feel like being caught out in the middle of the mtns alone or on a rain threatening day. The grade in the pic is a little less but I find it harder than the 6%.

One reason is the false summit syndrome. I think it's better training. After all, part of climbing is in the mind. Much easier when you know where the top is. Plays games with the mind when you don't. It's more the feelings you have whne doing an organized ride where you have no idea where the top is or when the climbing will end. Good training for the mind!:D
