Yeah, I know. Lame. I'm seriously getting into road biking this year and have signed myself up for several centuries and double centuries this summer. I'm doing a LOT of riding and while I have the biking down, I'm seriously lacking in the nutrition catagory. I'm experimenting with GU and GU2O at this time.

My question to everyone is what is the main difference I can expect between the GU without Caffiene, GU with Caffiene and GU with 2x Caffiene. Also, is there anything I should watch out for when taking GU and GU20 in water at the same time?

Mixing it up with Powerbars at this point. We'll see how it goes. Thanks for the help.

I save the caffeine gel for late in a long ride/race when I need a boost.

I also prefer Clif bars to Powerbars (taste better, easier to get down) and Hammer gel to Gu (comes in big bottles so I can put it in a flask and not have to deal with empty gel packets leaking in my jersey pockets).

It's probably a good idea to at least try the more common drinks and bars so that you know which ones you can eat on supported century rides.

If you're riding centuries and double centuries you'll want something more substantial than GU. Try to eat real food on your rides ... things like:

-- salted almonds
-- beef jerky
-- pastries
-- cookies
-- fruit
-- granola bars

Leave the GU for emergency boosts.

Highly allergic. I prefer cashews. :thumb:
