Take a look, note that the finger grooves are on what I think are the wrong side! This is the way it came and I never really noticed till now. :o Let me if you think Im right or wrong.

I've ridden those levers both ways and can't decide which is the "right" way. They seem to be reversible, as the are fine either way. Just swap them next time you replace your bar tape if it's bugging you.
With the Tektros it may be tougher than to just switch them. I installed a set of thier v-brake compatable ones last night. They have an inlet for the cable. If you change out cables and change the routing around the back of the bar, it would work. My hands fit the indents on the leavers while on the hoods as you have it set up now.
Nice looking bike BTW. Repaint?, Is that the correct headbadge?

good point, I meant the paint.
Wow, I would have put it in with early 70s with opaque blue and decal set up.

Heres the google link to the new Schwinn Madisons, the white one came out in 2007, my Maddy (blue) was sold in 2008, the yellow and black came out in 2009. I was going to buy them both but found them to be less bike for more money. :(

Getting back the original question, yes, the levers are set up correctly. The curves go to the outside.

Actually, if I remember correctly, from installing a set myself, they have R and L on the bracket sides of them. You have them right, though.

I think they are on correctly - fitting the fingers as they begin their curl around, rather than being escorted all the way around.
I doubt it makes any difference though. Whatever feels best to you. I have a new set of PAUL brake-levers on their way. I intend to reverse them so the front brake is controlled by the right (right as looking forward) lever. And the left controlling the rear brake. Makes more sense to me, with the current trend being unnatural. And Sheldon Brown did it, too! :D

They are marked as left and right side but the marking is on the inside of the lever where the cable housing enters the lever. You need to remove the lever to see the little "L" and "R."
As stated before, they are mounted correctly.

(OT) I like that we've got some Watchmen fans here. I hate some of the things they did in the movie (ending) but it was still good. The book was so much better.

CravenMoarhead, If all they could do (after watching the movie) was joke about "the big blue guy and his swingin dong" they have more problems than I do, and thats a bad thing. :twitchy:
