Advocacy & Safety - Nude bike ride

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Not sure I'll go nekkid myself, but I'm all about it. I'm going to see if I can clear it with event organizers to do some photo documentary of it.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm doing a century in Tenn that day and I'll keep my eyes wide open!

But it's fun, no?
I suppose this addresses the cyclist visibility problem.

Only problem I see is massive chafing...and unless your a masochist, raw nether regions are all bad...
On that note, do they oil the sides of the saddle or something? Sorry if this falls under TMI, but just thinking about it brings up these kinda questions in my head.

The wind can be quite chilly too :S

i would have to wrap a towel around the saddle. i think that would make it a bit more comfortable.

Why not a nekkid bike ride?
I do a nekkid yoga class 2xs a week
And anyone who thinks yoga is for wimps and wusses needs to attend one some day
yeah. atleast on my saddle, being naked would really hurt

I don't think they'll be doing a century or anything. It seems like it's intended as a fun event. Chafing should be fairly minimal. In any event, a little discomfort may help keep things in order and non-embarrasing down there.

Really? The pictures on the link above bring up entirely different kinds of thoughts in my head.

I don't see Trollie there anywhere. You'd think she'd be all over that!
She's probably already there and waiting heh.

Heh, just got to teh boards away from work for a change...yep..now I have even worse thoughts going through my head
I see there will also be a Naked Bike Ride (http://www.worldnakedbikeride.org/chicago/) in Chicago. Any Chicago area BF members joining in on the fun? ;)
Darn, I'm afraid I can't make it. Atlanta is a long ride from Chicago. :D
I'm doing my first century on the 12th. Besides, nobody would want to see the likes of me nakkid, much less nakkid on a bike!
Vaseline/KY/Butt Butt'r/whatever is a MUST on the saddle if skin is going to contact it. All I have to say is saddle burn SUCKS.
Naked on a bike is definitely what Jerry Seinfeld would call "Bad Naked".
CHEERS.

Apparently, catatonic, you did not visit the website and see their inspiring slogan:
"Protest oil dependency and celebrate the power and individuality of our bodies."
So, no, you will not be allowed to "oil" the sides of your saddle.
But seriously, naked cycling? I don't have any problem with being naked,
or celebrating the power and individuality of your body. I certainly don't
have any problems with protesting oil dependency. But all at once? And
on a bike? I think these may be two great tastes that don't taste
great together.
god help anyone who falls.

See, it's things like this ride which make me want to live in a big city. That would be such a blast. Around my house I'm like a 3 year old, you have to catch me to put clothes on me. One problem though, I've got a koobi seat with the big split down the middle, I'd hate to get caught in the split. Ouch.

And in other threads people are talking about not being able to disengage from clipless pedals. Imagine being inadvertantly locked into your saddle! :D

Jake maybe we should plan on meeting at gasworks say around 1130 that morning for a ride (with clothes on) just to watch the show. It should be a warm up for the anual Soltice Parade

I really do want to but that weekend is when my parents are planning on visiting. I'm not sure I could convince them that this would be a fun-filled family event. :)

I'd be right comfy on my trike, and probably get a good even tan while I was at it too.

Asheville, NC is one of the cities – not that far from Boone – correct?
