Introductions - Hello ! (from another cyclist/mechanic)

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I'm ED and I currently work in the field of higher education. In recent years I have raced under USCF Veterans class and worked for Huffy Corporation as a mechanic. I have held numerous officer positions in the local cycling club and president for 3 terms. Please don't ask how many bikes I've owned as I'm finally getting the "pile" down to a manageable level!!

Working on cheezy, department store bikes was interesting in itself and yet frustrating to make the crud work. The relief at day's end was knowing I could go home and work on something worthy of a Park tool & my time. I respect and enjoy fine bicycles, especially high-end, custom bikes. I look forward to exchanging good advice & comments with other members in this forum... meantime, keep the wheels rollin'.:)

EDucator,

Welcome to Bike Forums.

There are a number of educators, bike mechanics, and cycling advocates here so you'll fit right in. You'll find the people here to be a friendly bunch of biking geeks.

I look forward to your posts, so pull up a keyboard and stick around awhile!

ED, glad you came aboard. Working for Huffy must have been a challenge. I know everytime I work on one it is.

As Greg mentioned, you'll find a lot of like minded guys and gals here. Hope to hear more from you. What are you currently riding?

I am usually riding one of my 2 favs: Cannondale SR400 or my custom Zullo. I usually use the Cannondale for races in case of a crash, I won't cry as hard from losing a custom frame.

Huffy Service required me to work on more then bikes. We had to assemble everything in department stores from bikes, to grills, exercise machines, and even Christmas tree displays!!! I think I'll post my woes in the general forum for others to read--check it there--thanks.
