I've been documenting the process of putting together my new cycle...

GO HERE (http://atlantis2004.crazyguyonabike.com/)

Enjoy, hopefully. :o :)

Great reading!

I'm close to launching my own build on a new bike... the hiring of a tech to teach you some of the more complex drivetrain bits and pieces is a great idea.

I love the atlantis too... can't afford that frame right now, but could easily end up with a Rivendell in my future :)

Nice bike. What happened to the T2000? I owned one of those and traded up to an Atlantis as well.

Tea, great reading! thankyou, but PLEASE hurry and finish her! And then put fresh batteries in the camera and take lots of pictures. As someone who just bought a new bike, and new gear to go with it, I could relate to so much! And the BG Rack and Arkels made me a little jealous! Thanks much for documenting this experience. I was about to feel sick when you started to mount the RD! Glad to hear it all worked out!

Thanks for readin' folks. It's an education for sure doing it this way on my own for the most part. Hopefully the lessons stick and I get better with time & experience.

drcrash, the T2000 was a bust. Our friend gave it back after she was going to relocate. I tried enjoying it for my own use but it was too small. I stripped it down to the frameset, kept most of the kit for the Atlantis build and Ebayed-Off everything else including the frameset.

I_Tea, that was my main complaint about the C'dale as well: its size. Nothing wrong with the bike besides being too small. The Atlantis that replaced it, however, is another story. It's very comfortable (and being pretty doesn't hurt either). I got positively squeamish when I read about cross threading the rear derailler. Glad to hear it was correctable. Now all that's left is to have fun with it.
