Folding Bikes - help me finish building my tricked out Tikit!

So I went ahead and put most of my savings towards yet another bike! This time I pulled all the stops and stopped just shy of the Rohloff hub, and ordered a 2 tone Tikit with mech disk brakes and Shimano Alfine hubs front and rear.
I am planning on putting my current b-17 brooks on it and using the MKS quick release pedals off my Airnimal Joey (which will prolly be for sale soon, if the Tikit is as nice as it sounds).

I would appreciate componentry suggestions for making the bike nicer/lighter (without breaking the bank, I already overspent!), and would also like to know what lighting systems are compatible/good to use with the Alfine dynamo hub. I would like to have both front and rear lights that can be permanently mounted on the bike, look nice and weigh as little as possible

Walter at BF has promised to send pics of the build in progress, so I will be happy to post those as they come in. The bike should get to me by the end of the month.

Nice! I ordered and am waiting for a Pocket Crusoe. I can't help so much with the components on a Tikit, but here's my parts list with the weight of each component, and I was going for lighweight (that I could afford!) when I had 'er spec'd out (let's see if this is readable):

Someone else on this forum fitted a B&M Lumotec light to their Alfine equipped Tikit. Can't remember who right now.

Im looking to upgrade with some lighter second hand stuff, although with the Alfine hubs, this will not be a superlight Tikit by any means...

For lights it is hard to go wrong with any of the B&M LED stuff. Make sure you get the ones with the Standlights! FWIW I am running the LUMOTEC IQ Fly senso plus (http://www.bumm.de/index-e.html) on my city bike and love it. The Cyo is getting good reviews too. Several folder people run the mini Hella or the Spanninga Micro. IIRC those are both halogen though.

so what are the advantages/disadvantages of halogen vs LED? it seems like the halogen are brighter? remember, i will be running these off a 6v dynamo hub...

hmm, first time I hear of that concern. I am not the first person, however, to run a dynamo hub on a Tikit (see Vik's link above)

Two biggest advantages to me of the LED is the 10,000+ hour bulb life vs 500-1000 for the halogen (carry a spare!) on a large wheel bike they reach full light much quicker and don't put as much drag on the generator when turned on. All of my hub generators are 6v. Most are 3w with one being a 2.4w. I believe all the modern generators have over voltage protection built in. If you are running one of the old Sturmey Archer dynohubs (I have 3) it is possible to blow bulbs.

As far as beam pattern and light output, no the LED's don't put out the sheer lumens that the halogens do, but for general riding I have found them to be the best bang for the buck. Busch and Muller(B&M) have lumen ratings and light patterns on their website, as well as Peter White has some on his.

I think I will go with the all LED version of the B&M DIWA system (Brake lights!). I have yet to find out if this is available in Australia, otherwise, I will be ordering from Germany!
