Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Depending on the terrain , probably around 16-18 mph. For 15 miles you could go "real" hard and get 18-20 though? Many factors can contribute to average speed though.

Well thats good to hear. I just started road biking and I have been able to average 19.5mph for 15 miles. 21.9mph for 6 miles. I guess the real test is to see how far I can push the miles at that speed.

On flat terrain, a cat 2 cyclist should be able to average approximately 25 mph, over 15 miles, riding in the range 3 to 4 heart zones.

Would you mind explaining the different catagories, I have no idea what they mean.
Thanks

30 mph.
what kind of headwind? what kind of tail wind? cross winds? did you eat/hydrate enough leading up to the ride? get enough sleep the days prior? have you been training? did you hit the gym the day before? are you fit to your bike? is your bike fit to you? how fit are you? any stoplights? how much traffic? how aero of a position are you in? do you have sub 900 gram 2 bazillion mm deep rims? are you drafting anyone? is anyone drafting you? are you TT'ing? hungover? EPO? are you towing a child? are you on a tandem? are you sprinting the whole way? is it up hill? is it down hill? is it raining? is it snowing? is sulfer raining down from the sky? blah blah blah words stuff blah...
...too many variables out there to say anything worthwhile about average speeds...average speeds are worthless.. just ride. If you want to analyze something, then go with heart rate and heart rate zones... much more interesting :D :)

The 30mph tailwind also might have helped a little.:D
Let's not go bumping 7 year old threads. They get cranky when awoken from their blissful sleep. Thanks.
