Tandem Cycling - Ever have one of those days?

Monday is the day I take a VI client for a tandem ride, while getting my gear ready before leaving, I cut my finger, then I jabbed another finger with the end of an uncovered brake cable....annoying, but I don't worry about so I leave. On the way to his house my spare helmet decides to take leave of absence and flies off the stoker's bars where I tethered it, I had to turn back and get it and fortunately there's very little damage. So off we go, riding along, chatting, descending a nice long hill and his mobile phone also decides to make a big escape and hits the road...literally. Lucky it wasn't too badly damaged.
After I drop him off and head home I go to an ATM for lunch money and forget to secure the rear bag on my rack....so halfway through a busy intersection it falls off too...right in front of a work mate driving a bus. He reckons I'm a FRED for some of the bikes I ride, so he hides his face and shakes his head....I just want to go home and crawl under my bed and cry.

Sure, I've done prety similar things, sometimes several in one day. You don't report any serious damage, so it was a good day. I dropped a pannier with a pack of riders behind me, could have been a mess, I answered a cel phone on a single road bike and before I knew it my front wheel had turned too much and I was over the handlebars looking stupid banged up with an unridable front wheel.

Simple errors have always followed me, they seem to be a part of life, only countermeasure I have worked up over the years is resourcefulness to correct them, but I have never been able to actually prevent them them for too long.
