Living Car Free - I'm giving my car away this Saturday

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I never use it, and 12 months worth of insurance premiums for a 20 year old male is more than the car is worth. Giving it to a relative who is currently shopping for a car.
I just need to clean it first, -_-

Let them clean it. It will help them bond with the car.

If I went carless when I was 20 I would be retired by now at 41. If not retired at least have my house paid for and larger investments working for me.

Congratulations. You won't regret it. Being car free at 20 is the way to go. My son is 32 and lives in Albuquerque now and has never had a car. The car culture has devastated cities and trashed the enviroment.

I was carfree when I was 20 but I didn't get to retire early. All the money I saved, I blew it on liquor and love. :o

For real. When I first starting drinking the utilitarian/commuter bicycle Kool-aide, I was all preachy and got into arguments with everyone I knew. I've come to realize that words just aren't very effective for me. So, I've decided to shut up and let my actions speak over my words. Maybe my cousin will see how well off I'm managing without a car and reevaluate his 'need'.

At least you didn't waste those years and/or dollars trapped in a metal box in daily traffic jams on the "freeway." I'll take excessive drinking and foolhardy romantic entanglements over gridlock any time.

CONGRATS YO! I'm 22 and Car-free too. I'm more concerned about buying a house and retirement than paying automobile costs. Way to practice what you preach!

Better not say "comrade" or our buddy ILTB will accuse you of being a communist.
But congratulations, and best of luck with your wise decision! :thumb:

Let's stick to the facts. That is Zeppinger's fabricated self accusation and dopey attempt to be cute.
