Utility Cycling - Some xtracycle questions

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I have two so far;
1. When installing v-rack spacers does the ribbed part go into the adventure rack bottom and then the screw is adjusted out and slid into the xtracycle?
2. What do you all think about the kickback? Is it worth it or are there cheaper options out there? I am going on a loaded tour so I am thinking if I need to repair something it will be a pain without something like that?
Thank you
Can't help you on the first question.
I bought the Kickback and love it. Simple design that is stable and serves the purpose. I don't know anything cheaper that does the same. Val's stand- Rolling Jackass, is a cool stand with some better features. I just couldn't justify the price.

Kickback is great. Val's is better. If you are going to use Wideloaders, check out my additions on Xtra's Wiki page.

+1 - and if you want to use Footsies....still boggles my mind that Xtracycle designed a centre stand that doesn't play nice with their own accessories...:twitchy::eek::rolleyes:

Yeah I just don't think I could shell out that dough. Does the kickback not work with wideloaders?

I works with wideloaders, but it makes taking them on/off a lot more hassle than then it is when they are used alone. It doesn't work with footsies at all.
I keep hoping against hope Xtracycle will release a MK2 Kickback that works with their other products.

I've had my BD on the road for about 3 months now and I just got the Kick Back. Without the Kick Back, parking and doing repairs on the bike was tricky. I think that if you are doing loaded touring then a Kick Back (or something like it) is essential.
