Didn't know there's a mechanics sub-forum!

At the end of yesterday's ride, the bike developed this creaky/squeaky noise when I pedal hard or out of saddle.
I think it comes from the headset area. If I put my front brake on and rock the bike back and forth, I hear the squeak, but the headset doesn't seem loose. Also, if I sit down on the top tube, I hear the squeak.
Any idea what this is? Thanks!

Sounds like your headset. Take a wrench and trying tightening the headset. It often helps to slightly loosen it before tightening again.

if it is your headset, take your headset off and re-grease it...if you think its coming from your front brake, the brake pads might not be towed in correctly...next time your by your bike, push down the front brake and see what part of the pad is touching first;if the back of the pad touches before the front of the pad, then you might need to re-adjust your brake pads.

You many find the following links helpful in tracking it down:

AND

It's usually just a matter of patiently removing, cleaning,
re-lubing, and re-torquing fasteners until it quiets down.

[I sort of include this, often, so that -- in future forum searches -- people will run across it....]
