I just picked up a new old stock Raleigh racing usa super course. I guess it's from 1982 or 1983 it has all the paper work with it and the bag with the paper work is still on the bike. the dates on the paper work says 1982 and some of it says 1983.

it has a shimano 105 series derailleur set and the 105 series shifting lever's
the brakes levers say A C250G and the brake caliper's say A C300G
the rim are araya 700C 1W with Raleigh sealed bearings no brake rubbing marks or anything the brake shoes show no use.
the pedal's are MKS MP-707
RALEIGH crank set.

I had the bike upside down and it changes into all gears and the brakes squeeze but I didn't squeeze them when the wheels were spinning.

the tires are flat. they still look good but with being from 1982 or 1983 I am not sure how good they would be. I was going to try to put some air into them but the valve stems have some kind of freaky screw on things on them and my air pump won't fit.

I was wondering the value of this bike.

I'm sure this isn't the place to be asking such a thing (I think the Vintage forum has a thread for this), but I have to say that's a beautiful bike.

What is with the BMW decal on the seat tube?

Thank you. I was wondering the same thing. I am not sure if someone added that. It looks like it was hanging or sitting in someone's garage for a long time. I picked it up at the goodwill today. It was very dusty and I was cleaning it. I wonder why someone would get a bike and never ride it. I was like wow when I saw the paper work attached. I think it was hanging upside down. There was more dust on the under side of the bike then the top.

I don't know what you paid for it, but I'll bet you got a good deal for what looks to be a brand new old bike. Very cool! Are you going to put some miles on it or sell it?

:twitchy: Good score!

Do you know what size it is?

how do I measure it? do I measure from floor to the top of the frame?

it measures 30 and 1/2" from floor to the top of the middle bar. I think it would be closer to 31" if the tires were not flat.

if i messure from the bottom of the crank housing to the top of the middle tube i get around 22" that would be 53cm. if thats the right way of doing it

It may be minty, but it's not "New Old Stock" if someone put a BMW sticker on it. Same for that sticker right next to the shifters.

That said, I bought a near-perfect, all-original example (with exception to bar tape and missing toe clips) for $200 on eBay. $240 or so was the final price when shipped.

As it is now w/Campagnolo Victory (incomplete):

I have a photo of it as-delivered, but I cannot find it at the moment.

Wow, nice score! That 105 parts group is also known as golden arrow and is somewhat sought after. The valves on your tubes are called presta valves, you can buy a pump adapter pretty cheap. The old grease should probably be replaced just because of the age.

That bike is in really amazing condition but I don't know if the term new old stock is appropriate since you can't prove that it was never once ridden. Still though, it is almost mint.

Price depends on a lot on where you live. I would guess you could easily get 250-300 because of the condition.

The frame size would be a measurement from the center of the crank spindle to the top of the seat tube. Yours sounds like it might be a 54cm.

thanks. like i said the rims show no rub marks from the brakes and the brakes show no wear. the sticker between the shifters says freistaat bayern. the tires show no wear and they are raleigh 700x25c 100 psi they also say national tire co ltd. if it was used they did a very good job tieing the plastic bag on the bike. I was the one that said new old stock. I am just taking a guess that it was new old stock I could be wrong.

Always safer to just describe it as "near new old stock". Since you do not know its history, it would be impossible to verify it as truly NOS status. The pictures tell the story of one extremely clean, darn near NOS for sure.

It is not unusual for bikes to be very lightly used, and then stored away in a garage, basement or whatever. I picked up a Schwinn Supersport like that last year. If it was ridden, I would estimate the mileage at less than 50 miles based on tire wear (none) and overall condition.

Mine had 300 miles since new - no rub marks. Hard as hell anodizing, I gather.

You'll have to decide what you want for it, I guess. I know that I wouldn't mind having it as an occasional rider, but it's likely worth a lot less to me than it is to a Raleigh enthusiast.

I checked Craigslist across the US, and Super Courses vary in asking price all over the place.

wow the rims must hold up better then newer bikes. I have a mongoos 21 speed with less then 100 miles and it shows brake marks on the rims

thank you. I am going to get my hair dryer out to soften up the BMW sticker to remove it. the other sticker by the shifters looks like it matches the bike.

Jason,

Take some pictures and post it on Craig's List. It will go pretty quick. PM me if you want me to stop by some time and give you an opinion.
