Mountain Biking - We did a little riding yesterday (Video)

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I cant go huge yet due to my suspension being way too soft, but we got some footage. The rail gap opened up finally (the harbor parks peoples yachts in the way and they finally put them in the water) so we went and hit it up a few times. First time I did it jason stopped the camera way too soon, second time I bottomed out. I gotta get smoother!!!

Man if you were up here I would buy you a beer. That was some impressive riding. Of course I am not as much impressed by the size but some of the stuff you hit. The wallride at the end, the skinnies along the building...so much good stuff in that vid.
BTW looks like you were really muscling the demo9 around. ;)
Good work

Thanks guys. I plan on doing the ufc one of these times with the footage we will get this summer. I went and checked out a big roof huck today, a big long motel and the side that i was on was impossible due to the gap length, but the on the other side the hill is closer so it might be possible.

You should GO to the UFC.
And I should improve my riding.

I will be getting lots more video. There are maybe 5 more video cameras I can get ahold of and get a bunch of angles on different stuff. Once I get the front brake I will have footage on trails and stuff too. It should be a good year.
Thanks for sharing that. I sure wish my balance was that good!

Ride skinnies...your balance improves 10 fold within a few rides. ;)

Yea, I don't have any around here. Perhaps I'll lay out some 2x4's in the back yard to practice on.
Maelstrom, do you think that would be of any value?
Thanks,
Bob

Thats how I started. Layed out 2x4's and rode them (you will have to find a way to stabalize them as they do turn on their side). When I felt comfortable I raised them and put in turns. Initially the faster you go the easier the balance. Eventually slow yourself down and just pedal smoothly...stopping and starting. You get the balance thing fast :)
then after that either raise them higher or make them skinnier.
Pssh, I don't see anything but cross country riding

ive always wanted to try jumping off stairs. do u just hit it like a huck or drop-off? or do u need to go a lil faster?
and how do u just lift up ur back tire by itself and turn it? i can bunnyhop both wheels at a time, but i cant just lift the back tire and turn it.

You mean when he goes to turn on the white cement wall at the end? You grab the front brake and kick the rear end up, while you shift your body in the direction you want to go.

Looks good! Hey, that's (the video) more than I've accomplished so far.... Everyone's gotta start somwhere, right? My fav was that jump onto the floating deck thing.
At least you two have each other to film, I almost always ride alone, and therefore limit what craziness I totally get into (and still get back to the vehicle). Some of my wildest rides were with fellow bikers, but unfortunately we didn't have a video camera, nor did we think about filming our stunts at the time....

Depends on the dropoff. Some people bunny hop down, some don't. Depends on the situation (speed, distance, size of drop etc...)

yes or no question. is jumping off stairs like going off a drop off? do the same factors apply? or is it differnet? wat about landing?

Hey...there is no YES OR NO answer...not every dropoff or stair gap is similar...has to many variables...I sometimes hop it..sometimes I just fly off like a wheelie drop.
Why does everything in riding have to be yes or no. Its like most sports, there are too many variables. I can walk you though how to tackle someone but unless you have practiced every situation I promise you won't knock everyone down. Is it really that difficult to realize.

What kinda brakes are you running now Matt?
Did the HFX-9's break on you already? I'll have to ride the 9's until I can afford the Mag Plus's.
I'm definitely going 04' Mag Pluses ... the silver ones w/ the Carbon lever :D

Nice video.
Even though it took extremely long to load on 56k, then I had to dl a codec...
Anyway, nice stunts. Any good outtakes where one of you wrecked? hehe
