Some of you know the bike that got me back into cycling was my Giant Revive LX. It is a great recreational bicycle and is one of the most comfortable rides I have ever had. I have put more than 500 miles or occasional riding on it and can say it is good for a day’s ride without having to train your bottom to accept the saddle/seat.
Now here is my dilemma. A good riding friend of mine has a wife that can no longer ride a conventional bike. Not even a comfort bike because of arthritic wrists. Any pressure for a forward position causes pain and she simply can’t ride more than a very few blocks. One or two of the people in our club suggested recumbent and offered ones for a test ride.
One mentioned my Revive and because it has been hanging in the shed for two weeks while I play with the new Masi and fine tune the Jamis. So I offered to let him burrow the Revive for a week or two to see if it would help solve the problem. I told him if they liked it the shop where I got mine had another one and I am sure they could get a deal on it. Well the shop doesn’t have another one and she has fallen in love with the bike. No pressure on the wrist at all and the shock supported saddle makes the ride smoother than anything she has been on.

He called today to ask if I would part with the Revive. My first instinct was to say no but I remember the look on his wife’s face as she rode with the cruisers in our club for a quick 20 mile ride Friday. We haggled for a while and I decided that if that bike could bring such joy to me and such a smile to someone else it would see more road time if I sold it. So now I have seen what N-1 is like. At first I thought I should never have offered the bike but then realized I was adding one more person to the family and more than likely the club. And of course helping a friend and making a new one.
