Oh god. THis morning i woke up with a horrific pain coming from my ass. Well actually, I could feel the pimple kinda yesterday but it's really killing me today. I was planning to go out for a longish ride but there is NO way. THe pimple is right under my sit bone too.

I don't think it's a saddle sore, because i haven't been riding very much. Last time i got on the bike was last week. But the thing is, i seem to be getting these pimple looking things really frequently, and they always come at the worst times. I don't know if it's because of my age (18), or whether i'm not eating right, or not sleeping enough. But somebody out there has to know what it's like... I'd really like to know if there was something i could do to get rid of this.

BTW, i don't even have very much acne on my face and on other parts of my body. LOL i'm not the stereotypical greasy faced teenager.

Sure it's not an ingrown hair? Them little $%*#$&@ things completely suck, particularly when strategically placed on particular parts of one's rear end.

Just sit down on your arse with enough force, it will go away.

Happened to me once, It went away but now I get them on my thighs. It's really bothering me because I can't show off my mucles like I used to anymore. I had nice legs. I'd like to know how to stop this from happening also.

The ingrowing hair is the likely culprit. Also, is the weather getting more humid and sweaty by any chance?

Could it be heat rash?

Isn't a butt pimple called a hemmroid? :)

regardless of whether it's a butt pimple, or ingrown hair... stay off of cafinated stuff and mostly... deep fried stuff. those are the things that makes you break out not only on ur facial area but depending on a person's inner chi, it will develope in areas you don't want.

the cure.. well, put some neosporin+pain relief and rub that in. i mean really work it in a circle and rub it in. it may hurt at first... but after a while later, when the pain relief sinks in, you'll feel better. do that a couple of days, and it'll go away. if it's ingrown hair, after a couple of days it'll harden up and u can just scratch the dead skin with the hair off.

hopes that help.

stay off of cafinated stuff ...

Why? I drink coffee by the gallon. Never really had any problems. I'd be interested in hearing more about this. I never drink soda.

Any remedies such a "stay off coffee" etc are completely bogus. Pimples are simply a result of a clogged pore *or* an ingrown hair. Coffee or chocolate or friend chicken or you inner Chi have nothing to do with it :P

A way to prevent ingrown hairs is to use a lufa sponge in the shower (for your legs obviously) and put lotion on every so often. The lofa help keep the tip of the hair exposed and the lotion makes the skin a little likely to grab a hair on its way out.

I tend to second (or 9th, 10th, etc) the ingrown hair theory Phat. I'd say just try to pop it (as much as that hurts). If you have a significant other who's seen you naked and won't think about your butt pimple the next time you get amorous, have her (or him) free the hair with some tweezers. It should heal w/in a day or two. i had one but it was luckily out of the way. My wife yanked the hair (as I screamed) and it was fine the following day...

Hope that helps.

I've been lying on my side all day, just watching tv. This sucks. I'm going to try and see if i can pop it now. THanks for the replies.

It's really puzzling. I slept a decent amount this week, i don't drink caffeine ever, and i've been eating MORE fruits and veggies. And this happens. Damn.

If it's any consolation phat I'm floating in the same boat. Well OK not laying on my side in pain. But about 2 weeks ago I got a but zit and thought nothing of it till I went on a metric century and basically the zit was ripped off and changed to a sore. I stayed off the bike for 4 days and felt good and did some shorter 30 40 mile rides no problem. Today I did 80 miles and it's open soar again. Oh bother will it ever end? Hey it sure does feel good to talk about it though lol ;)

Some here sounds like the zits occur after a ride....Like to think it is greasy food.
What are you all wearing...Jeans, bike shorts, underwear? I have never heard anyone else make this complaint..
Is it just on your rears, or do some of you find you get them from time to time in other places about your bodies..
When riding, so far the only things that hurt are the feet. I ride 60-80 miles lots.

Can't you get an ointment that will temporarily numb the pain of a saddle sore, just to get you through a ride?

the thing about eating fried foods and causing you to break out is from chinese remedy. believe it or not, it has a lot to do with people's inner chi. most western medication can't accept that, but that's ok. it's like me going to my doctor and he can't find problems with my stomach and why it's causing me to burp like crazy. thus... going to see a chinese doctor this summer and hopefully be able to find some answers.

makes you break out not only on ur facial area

....but, fecal area too. ;)

I don't know what "chi" is, but stress and a change in diet makes me break out. Coincidence maybe, but every time I have to put on a suit (funeral, job interview, wedding) I tend to get a zit.

At 18, new hairs in that region will keep coming untill you turn into a "hairy bahsturd".

Good Luck,

ehenz

You can pop the little bugger, or keep it clean and dry and it will go away. Unless of course it starts to absess, then it will grow bigger, leak, and smell.

Couldn't pop it, it just wouldn't pop. SO no riding for a couple more days. I actually tried to bike to this basketball game 1/2 a mile away yesterday, but i couldn't sit. So i had to stand the whole time, really worked the calves.

Anyway, it seems that it happens a lot when i wear jeans and am commuting somewhere around the city on my bike. But it also happens if i find myself sitting around too much.

Watch out for this, an army buddy of mine got an ingrown hair on his ass from sit-ups. It got infected and turned into a cyst enveloping his tail bone. Surgery removed it but it did some major nerve damage (the epidural went bad and screwed up his back).

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

Bike shorts. No undies. A smear of Chamois Creme.

Keep shorts and butt both clean.

Let Trevor's story serve as a cautionary tale.

Duct tape a piece of potato to it while you sleep tonight, and the starch will draw all the puss and stuff to the top. In the morning, you'll be able to pop it. If it's an ingrown hair, you'll need to pull the hair out of the shaft with tweezers.

I used the potato trick for one (my mom gave me this remedy) when nothing else worked, and I was apprehensive. However, I was back on the bike that afternoon.

You DEFINTELY need to get someone to look at closely. A doc maybe or your mom, LOL. Someone who has tweezers and won't stop when you say "Ow". For God's sake man! Get that hair OUT! :)

PS I DO symapthize w/ your dilemma. You're just gonna have to put your ass in someone else's hands, literally :D

Hahaha are you sure this isn't just a trick to get someone to go to bed with a potato duct taped to their ass? On a serious note, would a dessicator also work to draw the moisture out?

Hells Bells, man.....you've just got a case of 'crotch crikets' that have moved over to you ass.

I get these all the time they are ingrowns. My gf is an aestitician sp? so she advises me. First of all you have to tweez out the ingrown then squezze out all the bacteria until it is clear. ie squeeze until the blood disappears and its oozing clear liquid. Then sanitize the area and give it a day or two rest.

That is truely sick. . .

Phat, Hot compresses will help draw it to a head without having to go to sleep
with a potato duct taped to your but.
If they persist go see an doctor, might not be just an ingrown hair.

I tried all the other stuff, too. Finally, I relented and did the potato thing. Anyway, it's an option, and it worked for me. When nothing else works, or you're off the bike too long, give it a try.

It is probably a boil:

http://www.medicinenet.com/Boils/article.htm

General treatment:

"The primary treatment for most boils is heat application, usually with hot soaks or hot packs. Heat application increases the circulation to the area and allows the body to better fight off the infection by bringing antibodies and white blood cells to the site of infection."

Do you need a doctor?

"A "pilonidal cyst," a boil that occurs between the buttocks, is a special case. These almost always require medical treatment including drainage and packing (putting gauze in the opened abscess to assure it continues to drain). Finally, any painful boil that is not rapidly improving should be seen by the healthcare practitioner."

On Prevention:

"The regular use of antibacterial soaps can help to prevent bacteria from building up on the skin. This can reduce the chance for the hair follicles to become infected and prevent the formation of boils."

"Pilonidal cysts can be prevented by avoiding continued direct pressure or irritation of the buttock area when a local hair follicle becomes inflamed. At that point, regular soap and hot water cleaning and drying can be helpful."

My experience:

Too much pressure on the butt for an extended period of time can decrease
circulation and sort of push new hairs in rather than out. As soon as I get
the start of a zit, I make sure to sit differently, avoid extended pressure,
and bathe more than regularly until it goes away. Butt zits are embarassing
enough. Boils are a misery.

That's exactly my experience. I'm so pissed though... each time i get one of these little *****es, it leaves a dark scar. My formerly pristine ass looks like the moon landing now. Kinda.
