my Hardrock Sport (HRS) came with alexrims 26" rims with the nomenclature of 599 X 22 6061 - T6 on the sticker. the guy at the LBS shop sold me a set of "the same rims, laced to stock HR Disk hubs." it turns out, these rims are marked 599 X 18 6061 - T6. the only reason i got the same rim with a disk hub is because i have never had to true these wheels after i got them set. will this 4mm difference make the wheel weaker? will i still be able to mount my 2.1 width tires? should i re-lace my 22mm wide rims to the new hubs, or what?

Not all rims are measured the same. It'd be 559, not 599, for a 26" tire in any case. Compare inside widths, measure them yourself to be sure if they're 18 or 22 (22 could be exterior). In either case a 2.1 tire shouldn't be a problem (I use 2.4s on a 17mm interior width rim without any problems, altho it's outside "recommendation"). Width of a rim doesn't necessarily indicate strength of a particular rim, depends on other factors.

Rims of the same ERD use the same spokes, but check out your current rims before you try swapping.

Mostly you shouldn't worry so much and go riding.

i'm not really worried about the rim exploding or anything, but i was worried about tire compatibility since i already have 2 sets of tires, and it would suck if they wouldn't work with my new rims.
