I was browsing ThorUSA's website and came upon this brackets to fit a front derrailleur that are made for Dahons.

There's two of em. One for the Dahon Speed and the other for the Dahon Mu.

Would any of these brackets fit the Brompton frame?

I believe that the Dahon has a 40 mm seat tube. Get a caliper and measure the Brompton.

Isn't the problem "reach" and unusall backset postion that the front mech needs to work in when on the brompton rather than purely seatpost diametre size? I thought part of the steven perry mount was that it brought the mech in to the right postion ? ( I am preparied to stand corrected, but my posture is pretty poor anyway).

Check out the Steve Parry front clamp. It isn't that cheap - about £40 I think, but it means that you can easily bolt on a £10 front mech and the thing will work beautifully. My arrangements include a 39 tooth and 52 tooth front chain ring. It changes very well and took about half an hour to fit the whole thing.

I have written about this in detail a few times. Do a search and see how it works. The posts have pictures.

End of.

last time I enquired it was £50 including postage. I think it also included the changer lever.
